Carnwadric is situated south of the River Clyde. It was a farm owned by Sir John Maxwell. One of approximately 7 such large holdings owned by him and rented to others. The land was formerly land owned by the Stuart Kings and Queens of Scotland. During ancient post Roman times, it was sought after by the Scots of Dalriada and Angles of the East.
